Mercato: PSG about to get rid of Icardi flop?

  • Icardi, who has been performing particularly well for Galatasaray in recent weeks, is beginning to turn heads. So much so that the Turkish side are now considering negotiating a permanent transfer with Paris Saint-Germain. A great news in perspective for the Red and Blue?

“There is no problem with Icardi. He is happy to be here. Everyone has a different opinion about Icardi, but he is a player who has a good relationship with his teammates and the technical staff.”

On 8 October, Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk defended striker Mauro Icardi, who has made a slow start to his career in Turkey and is embroiled in new extra-sporting problems following his divorce from Wanda Nara.

And it seems the Turkish coach was right to do so, as the Argentinian on loan from Paris Saint-Germain has since raised his game. A return to form that is reflected in good performances, but also in goals! Icardi did not score in his first two league games, but has since scored three times in his last three appearances, including a decisive double in the derby against Besiktas (2-1) last Saturday.

Galatasaray ready to rid PSG of Icardi

The 29-year-old is slowly but surely settling into the Sang et Or squad, and is beginning to silence the critics. Icardi is a world star,” he said, “and I’m sure he’s going to be a big part of the team’s success. “Icardi is a world star. His arrival is a big success for Galatasaray.

He has integrated into the team very quickly. I don’t think his club wants to sell him. It is not enough that Galatasaray wants the transfer. If Galatasaray is financially capable and there is a desire to sell him and if the conditions are right, then Galatasaray will be able to make the transfer,” the president of the Istanbul club, Dursun Özbek, told local media Turkuvaz.

This is excellent news for PSG, who would then get rid of a flop who is still costing them a lot of money at the moment. Indeed, Galatasaray are only covering €750,000 of the €6.5m annual fee the Argentinian earns on loan, with the rest being paid by the Parisians. Paris therefore have every reason to hope that the transfer will go through, even if it means making financial efforts.

However, in order to make the deal feasible, Icardi will also have to make an XXL sacrifice in terms of wages.
